Workshop outline

Summary:  Giving advice to students who start Secondary Education at Montpellier School. Getting to know different cultural issues of Spain and Britain through ICT as part of the eTwinning project: “Heritage Stroll: un paseo por la Historia”.
Subjects:  English, ICT, Art.
Course: 4 ESO
Tools to be used: Desygner, Montpe English Workshop blog, Powtoon, Toontastic, Aurasma (Augmented Reality).

Targets:
·         Practising and improving English in the four skills (speaking, listening, writing, reading) through fun and motivating activities.
·         Helping new Secondary students start their Secondary school stage.
·         Creating an open, positive and enriching view of the partnership with students from another country through valuation and respect for another language, culture and other people whose habits, values and beliefs are different from their own. Acquiring an intercultural competence integrated in the learning of a foreign language.
·         Learning and improving the command of ICT through a wide range of digital tools.

Work process:

STAGE 1
Firstly, students will pair up themselves. Teams of two members, maximum three in case of even number. Then there will be two groups of teams:
1.       Pairs who will prepare videos to give advice to students who will start Secondary Education in September. They will prepare six videos for each of the following issues related to this education stage:
·         Organization
·         Decisions for the future
·         Subjects
·         Use of computers
·         Study methology
·         Exchanges and school trips

2.       Pairs of students members of the eTwinning project who will prepare six videos about 3 British Heritage Sites and 3 paintings by three different Spanish painters.

STAGE 2
Students will create the six videos using either Powtoon or Toontastic. First they will write the video scripts. Then they will edit the videos recording their voices to include them in the videos. In case they needed images, they must be copyright free.

STAGE 3
They will create six graphics with Desygner to associate the videos with them so that they will be matched up in Aurasma.

STAGE 4
They will write a post in Montpe English Workshop blog describing their experience in the workshop and embedding the videos in them.

STAGE 5
We will upload both videos and images on Aurasma so that 1 ESO students and James Allen’s Girls’ school will be able to watch them with the help of their devices.
