Summary: Giving advice to students who start Secondary
Education at Montpellier School. Getting to know different cultural issues of Spain
and Britain through ICT as part of the eTwinning project: “Heritage Stroll: un paseo por la Historia”.
Subjects: English, ICT, Art.
Course: 4 ESO
Tools to be used: Desygner, Montpe English Workshop blog,
Powtoon, Toontastic, Aurasma (Augmented Reality).
Targets:
·
Practising and improving English in the four
skills (speaking, listening, writing, reading) through fun and motivating
activities.
·
Helping new Secondary students start their Secondary school stage.
·
Creating an open, positive and enriching view of the partnership with
students from another country through valuation and respect for another
language, culture and other people whose habits, values and beliefs are
different from their own. Acquiring an intercultural competence integrated in
the learning of a foreign language.
·
Learning and improving the command of ICT through a wide range of digital
tools.
Work process:
STAGE 1
Firstly,
students will pair up themselves. Teams of two members, maximum three in case
of even number. Then there will be two groups of teams:
1. Pairs who will prepare videos to give advice to
students who will start Secondary Education in September. They will prepare six
videos for each of the following issues related to this education stage:

Organization
·
Decisions
for the future
·
Subjects
·
Use of
computers
·
Study
methology
·
Exchanges
and school trips
2. Pairs of students members of the eTwinning project
who will prepare six videos about 3 British Heritage Sites and 3 paintings by
three different Spanish painters.
STAGE 2
Students
will create the six videos using either Powtoon or Toontastic. First they will
write the video scripts. Then they will edit the videos recording their voices
to include them in the videos. In case they needed images, they must be
copyright free.
STAGE 3
They will
create six graphics with Desygner to associate the videos with them so that
they will be matched up in Aurasma.
STAGE 4
They will
write a post in Montpe
English Workshop blog
describing their experience in the workshop and embedding the videos in them.
STAGE 5
We will
upload both videos and images on Aurasma so that 1 ESO students and James
Allen’s Girls’ school will be able to watch them with the help of their
devices.
